Fellow Binancians,
To expand the list of trading choices offered on Binance Futures and enhance users’ trading experience, the following contract(s) will be admitted to trading on Binance RIE and admitted to Clearing and Settlement by Binance RCH at the time specified below:
What Is a Binance Futures Quanto Perpetual Contract:
Binance Futures Quanto Perpetual Contract allows users to trade non-USD-denominated equity in local currency without any foreign exchange conversion. The perpetual contract is priced in the local currency, such as HKD and JPY, while the settlement and payoff are settled in USDT. It removes cross-currency exchange rate fluctuation risk.
Difference between a USDT-Priced Contract and a Quanto Contract:
The Price Index of a USDT-Priced Contract is obtained based on the price of the underlying asset on the exchange on which it is primarily traded (in this case, the price of the relevant Hong Kong stock on the HKEX), with a HKD/USD FX rate applied. The FX rate is provided by a third party vendor and updated on a real time basis.
A quanto contract is a futures contract in which the underlying asset is priced in one quote asset, but the margin and P&L are settled in another quote asset. In this case, the price of the relevant Hong Kong stock on the HKEX is treated as if denominated in USDT on a one-to-one basis for the purposes of margining and settlement, without any foreign exchange conversion.
Example: User A has a long position in HK0700USDT Quanto Perpetual Contract with a contract size of 10 HK0700 and an average entry price of 450. The user closes the position when the price of HK0700USDT Quanto Perpetual Contract is at 500.
1. Trading Fee
Assume the trading fee is 0.04%
Trading Fee= Notional Position * Trading Fee
= 450 * 10 * 0.04%
= 1.8
The fee payable when the user opens a position is 1.8 USDT.
2. Funding Fee
Assume the funding rate is 0.01%
Funding Fee
= Notional Position * Funding Rate
= 450 * 10 * 0.01%
= 0.45
The funding fee the user would need to pay is 0.45 USDT.
3. Maintenance Margin
Assume the maintenance margin rate is 1%
Maintenance Margin
= Notional Position * Maintenance Margin Rate
= 450 * 10 * 1%
= 45
4. Realised PNL
= (Closing Price - Average Entry Price) * Contract Size
= (500 - 450) * 10
= 500
500 USDT will be credited to the user’s Futures Account after they closed the position.
